In this research project, I will be investigating whether the frequency of the internal shuttle buses in NUS affect the punctuality of students, especially during peak hours. This topic will appeal to the staff and student body of NUS because the shuttle buses are part of their welfare benefits and helping students arrive punctually for classes will not only benefit their learning, it will also enable lecturers to start/end their lessons on schedule.
One objective of this report is to make known the fact that many students cite crowded shuttle buses as the main reason for their lateness. Not being able to board the buses prevents them from reaching their destination on time. Another objective is to convince the management that this problem can be alleviated by increasing the frequency of shuttle buses especially during peak hours (10am – 2pm).
An attitudinal survey will be essential so that I can analyse if the regularity of the buses is the main reason for lateness, or whether other factors (e.g. Release time by previous lecturer/tutor, students’ own lack of urgency, extra time spent navigating around the NUS campus) play a bigger role.
Questions asked will include:
1. Are you normally late for classes? If yes, specify how long.
2. Do you think that the frequency of the NUS internal shuttle buses is sufficient?
3. What is your main reason for arriving late for classes?

I think this research topic will definitely be beneficial to the students of NUS, particularly those in Science, as the Science Faculty is the furthest from any other faculties.
I also agree with you that being punctual for lectures and classes will definitely enhance our learning experience as classes will not be disrupted with groups of students entering lecture theaters or seminar rooms late.
I feel that the survey will get a good spread of results as the survey to be conducted would be unbiased, given the fact that the surveyees chosen in NUS would be at random and not be restricted to any particular group from any one faculty.
Frequency of NUS internal bus services has always been a popular topic for projects amongst NUS student population because it tackles one of the most pressing problems often encountered in the campus. However, the problem of overcrowded buses during the morning and evening rush hours and last quarter of every hour when students are shuttling between different faculties for lessons still exist.
After defining the research question in details, perhaps consideration may be given to reaching your second objective of convincing the management to increase the shuttle bus services. Their concern may be the balance between student welfare and economic reasons. Without takng into consideration the extra financial burden of capital investment and depreciation of vehicles, additional workers' wages, long-term maintainance cost and wasted resources during non-peak hours, there would perpetually be no incentive for upper management to change status quo.
Thus, your project may like to propose a solution to the above problem so that it is more feasible and different from other similar projects attempted by many other students previously.
Yes indeed, many students have problems getting lectures and tutorials on time, as seen from the number of latecomers arriving in the middle of class. If this survey is able to show that frequency of shuttle buses is the cause, then, convincing the relevant management to increase the frequency would definitely improve matters.
Be careful to ensure that all faculties in NUS are represented in your survey; this will make your results more accurate and convincing.
Your research topic is closely related to us - students of NUS. Anyway here is a website that you may find interesting. It is a project done by some computing final year student which tracks down the internal buses in NUS. Therefore in the future if you are waiting at the bus stop, you will be able to know the expected time of arrival.

To add, i also feel for the need to increase the frequency of buses especially in the morning when everyone rushes to another lecture venue.
